If you're wondering what I've been up to lately, it's my last semester in college and I'm just crazy trying to finish all my work for school before I can graduate and be out in the big, bad world. @_@ It's funny-- I can't really remember a time when I wasn't in school, so my life from here on out is going to change dramatically from May on. It's also kind of scary. I hope I don't lose my enthusiasm for art and learning and all that good stuff.
This summer in August, I'm taking a trip out to Europe to visit Paris, Nice, Florence, and Rome for a few weeks, so I'm really looking forward to that. If any of you guys live out that way, let me know and maybe we can meet up I've always wanted to visit Europe, so this will be an adventure for me.
In other news, most of my time is being spent on my webcomic. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's an action/adventure story about a boy who stumbles upon a rebel group of religious warriors and his journey through self-discovery. It's taken me a lot of work to get as far as I have and I hope you take the time to look at it. View it Here!
Also, you can catch me this May at the Anime Boston Artist's Alley, together with BlackRoseMikage If you'll also be there, feel free to come by and chat!
- Tumblr - Personal blog where I post sketches and other random thoughts that I can't keep to myself. Feel free to drop me a line or ask about commissions. (I always follow back~)
- Twitter - Because every good thought is less than 140 characters.
- YouTube - Channel where I upload my gifs with added music and you can actually pause them omg.
- SmackJeeves - Webcomic site. It's coming along slowly but surely.
I'll be out with a new animation soon (I hope @_@). Until then, buh-bye~
In other news, I'm just starting my last semester at college and because I'm taking two directed studies, my entire semester is going to revolve around my webcomic, The Lumis Altar, and a series of other illustrations. :/ I don't...really know what that means yet. Anyway, I'm gonna be real busy with stuff, so if I get around to uploading anything...Ah, who am I kidding-- I'll be procrastinating all the time lol.
Also, and I just received word that we're going to be in the Anime Boston Artist Alley this year. 8D I'm super excited since I didn't get in last year and since 2009, it's been near impossible to even stand a chance of getting it. So yeah, we're pretty psyched. 8D If you'll be there, please don't hesitate to come say hi!
Edit: *GASP* Who gave me the 1-month membership?! D8 THANK YOU SO MUCH
Hello my dears
So, AAC was a blast and I'm currently waiting to hear whether or not I have a table at Anime Boston this coming year. :/ I should hope so, since I signed up the minute I could. Stupid AB with their crazy, unorganized scheduling. They had an art contest I had entered for a free table and I didn't win, but I did get an honorable mention, so I guess that's better than nothing lol.
Anyway, my #1 focus right now is my webcomic (well, more like web-epic), The Lumis Altar. I don't have a lot of support for it yet, but I guess that's to be expected when you only have 13 pages up and the main character hasn't even been introduced. I assure you, it's going to be worth the wait. I realize that there are thousands of webcomics out there, so I need to stay vigilant and try to make mine stand out. The only question is...how? I guess there are plenty of people out there that are hoping to accomplish the same thing, but my gaol with TLA isn't so much to be noticed as it is to tell the story I've been wanting to tell since I was 14. If you're interested in following me on this journey, take a look at the Tumblr site, and then head over to SmackJeeves, where I'll be hosting it in its entirety very soon. Thank you so much!
So most of you already know that I've started a webcomic. You can find it here--> The Lumis Altar
It's also on Facebook www.facebook.com/thelumisaltar…, where you can Like it if you like it lol. It's going to be my life's work, so I do hope some of you will take the journey with me~
Other than all that, AAC is in just a few weeks and I think I'm sort of prepared X_x; I hope to have enough prints. I also want to try for the Katsucon and Anime Boston Artist Alleys this year, so wish me luck!
In the meantime, I've been trying to do more real 'arts', but I'm back in school and working two internships, so it's tough to do everything, you know? lol pfft life getting in the way of everything important!
Oh my gosh, all these wonderful birthday wishes! xD You're all way too kind to me, considering how grumpy I get this time of year lol. But seriously, I'm an old fart who shouldn't be allowed on the internet :I
Anyway, thank you all for your kindness ^^ Waking up to see all the messages in my inbox is such a treat
So I guess this coming Saturday there's going to be two events at the Prudential Center in Boston; A cosplay picnic and a big, huge Homestuck event. I will be attending one of them, but I'm just going to assume they will intermingle and become one big clusterf*ck of nerds making the normal people more uncomfortable than they will be prepared for. For anyone who's going to be there, I'm going with , who is a Homestuck, which I know nothing about. So come see me and help me understand, as many have tried and failed lol xD; I'm bringing a sketchbook with me because damn it what else am I gonna do? Cosplay? PSHAW
Anyway yeah xD; Don't forget to check out The Lumis Altar, updated weekly lumisaltarcomic.com and to follow me on Tumblr (I do follow back) madelezabeth.tumblr.com/
So after years of waffling over it, I've finally decided to start getting serious about my original comic I've been wanting to start. I told myself I'd work on it a little bit each day, so let's see how it goes. I may end up creating a new dA account specifically for it. Or I might just start my own website. Either way, it's going to be a little while until it's up and running, but I hope at least a few of you who know me here would be interested enough to check it out soon. ^^
It took some time, but thanks to you, I've finally reached the target amount of donations for my good friend Ajinori who lost so much in a house fire. In that time, she's finally all moved into the new house and it even has a studio attached to her bedroom. I know dA points won't do much other than give her a free subscription, but I figured it was the least I could do, so thank you all so much for donating and helping me out.
In other news, I'm out of school for the summer, living in a tiny apartment, but hopefully I'll be able to get out every so often. :/ I just started a job as a freelance animator, so lets see how that goes.
Well, there are exactly three days until I head for Boston. I'm going to be staying in a hotel with Maiden-of-the-Moon starting Wednesday evening. Anime Boston is going to be interesting this year xD; From what I can gather, there aren't going to be any specific Kuroshitsuji panels, but there is a Tea Party event happening on Sunday that Moony and I will be at for a bit. The only main panels we want to go to are the FUNimation industry panel and the Cosplay Death Match, as I've just been informed that there is a Sebastian cosplayer who wants to give me curry bread lol.
Sadly, I did not get a table at the Artist Alley this year Instead, I'm just going to carry around a sketchpad and be artsy whether they want me to or not. >/ If you find me, I'll sketch something for you. xD More than be at the convention, I'd just like to hang around Boston for a weekend. :3 It's the city I was born in, after all.
Hope to see some of you there ^^
EDIT: Since I wont be able to go in cosplay, maybe I'll update where I am during the con on my Twitter lol: twitter.com/madelezabeth
